To be honest Amarok 2.0(.0.0), was excitingly new and had some improvements over 1.4 (well, actually the only one I recall atm is the fact that you’re able to skip back and forward in a random playlist - but hey! )

But all in all it was hardly a match for the solid Amarok 1.4 (ah.. see some parallels? kde 3.5 < -> kde 4.0), there has been an some small update already, and we’re now at 2.0.1.1 (the latest included a security fix, so update it!).

One thing that bugged me was the broken multi-file-editing-dialog and the missing iPodmedia-player-support.

As an Ex-Gentoo there’s only one thing to do: Reach out for the bleeding edge and get a copy of the latest development branch. (Sidenote Amarok will soon switch from svn to git and be a test-case for the rest of the KDE project)

What can I say?
As always the future looks so bright:
- “Media-Player-Applet” works and is able to transfer tracks to my sisters iPod nano of the latest generation (4th?)
- Editing several files at once works (so far..)
- Bookmark feature (with some additions this will be very nice for audio book listeners)
- As I see it, the “Widget”-View has changed, there are not 4 displays anymore but instead only a single one with a clickable list of used widgets

Als kleinen Eröffnungseintrag wollt ich mal kurz Werbung für die Band t r y Δ d machen:

Die Band besteht aus einem Zusammenschluss einiger Künstler die, größtenteils zwar in den Vereinigten Staaten, über die ganze Welt verteilt sind und ihre Musik frei unter der Creative-Common(CC) Lizen(by-sa 2.5) verteilen.

t r y Δ d kann man als eine der ersten “Virtuellen Bands” bezeichnen, bei denen die Mitglieder sich allein übers Internet absprechen und ihre Stücke komponieren und bearbeiten.

Vom Stil her ist t r y Δ d aufgrund der vielen verschiedenen Leute ganz verschiedenen Einflüssen unterworfen, so treffen Einflüsse von depeche mode, über Beethoven, Nine Inch Nails bis hin zu den Beatles zusammen, doch das Ergebniss kann sich hören lassen: Ein Mix aus Trip-Hop, alternative Rock, Klassik und Electronic(ohne Gewähr auf Vollständigkeit ).

So nun aber genug geredet, hört’s euch doch einfach an, da ihre Werke unter der CC by-sa 2.5(Was heißt das jetzt genau?) Lizens stehen dürft ihr, die Werke völlig legal und frei herunterladen:

• Direkt Download auf der Offiziellen Homepage (OGG Vorbis & MP3 Format) (Allerdings ist hier das neuste Album “Listen” noch nicht gelistet :/ )
• Download der 3 Offiziellen Alben via Torrent oder eDonkey(z.B.eMule)(OGG Vorbis & MP3 Format) (Hier sind nur die Alben anzufinden, die Singles findet man auf der Offiziellen Homepage

Mein Persönliches Lieblingsalbum ist “Listen”, ich würde unbedingt empfehlen hier zuerst rein zu hören, da Public Domain doch etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig und noch nicht ganz so “reif” ist.

Zum Schluss würde mich jetzt intressieren, was ihr davon haltet und wie ihr die Band findet - comments please!
